A home in the making

A safe place to grow up. Built with every sale.

Buddie Sanctuary is being created as a trauma-informed boarding home for adolescent foster youth — with family engagement, low staff-to-youth ratios, and room to heal, learn, and stay long enough to matter.

Our mission

Belonging first. Then school, family, and a future.

Too many adolescents in foster care bounce between short stays, crowded programs, and schools that never learn their names. Buddie Sanctuary is being built as a small residential community where youth can live with dignity, receive trauma-informed care, stay connected to family whenever it is safe, and keep moving toward school and adulthood.

We are designing for both short-term treatment-eligible stays and longer sanctuary living — so a young person is not asked to start over every few months. Care is meant to feel like a home: consistent adults, a quiet place to study, outdoor space, and a board and staff who chose this work because they believe these teens deserve more than a bed.

Trauma-informed careSafety, regulation, and relationship come before programs and paperwork.
Low staff-to-youth ratiosEnough adults present that a teenager is known, not managed in a crowd.
School without isolationPublic-school enrollment when it is best, with on-site study support and a path to college coursework for those who are ready.
Family engagementParents, kin, and trusted adults stay in the story whenever that supports healing and permanency.

What we are building

A rural sanctuary, not an institution.

Plans include a licensed residential home for adolescents, on-site staff housing, and space for learning, counseling, and ordinary teenage life — chores, meals, homework, and time outside.

Adolescent foster youthA boarding home focused on teens who need more stability than a short placement can give.
Care + educationSchool enrollment, tutoring, and a quiet place to complete high school or remote college courses.
Community oversightA board drawn from teachers, counselors, and social workers who stay close to the work.

Where the money goes

Two streams, two rules. Gifts are for the Sanctuary. Shadow Zodiac sales and subscriptions split so the creative work can keep going — and keep giving.

  1. 1A donation is made, or someone buys or subscribes through Shadow Zodiac.
  2. 2Third-party platform and processing fees come out first.
  3. 3100% of remaining donations are reserved for Buddie Sanctuary.
  4. 450% of remaining Shadow Zodiac revenue goes to the Sanctuary; 50% stays with Shadow Zodiac to create and operate the work. Nonprofit filings will report Sanctuary funds once the organization is established.
